SÁMI – People who belong to a Finnish-Hungarian folk group in Northern Scandinavia who traditionally live by hunting, fishing and herding reindeer.

The latest research says that the Sámi could have populated Scandinavia as early as 6000 years ago! In the northern most parts of Sweden, Norway Finland and Russia still exists Sámi who live by reindeer herding, hunting and fishing. And, Jojk is the Sámi way of expressing feelings and telling stories. Sámi girl, YANA MANGI has, for 20 years as an artist, stepped out in the world with her interpretation of Jojk. 

Exotic and suggestive, she expresses in Jojk the forests, the mountains and the mystic and power of the winds.

YANA will come with drums and congas played by her husband TOBBE and perform in an intimate setting or for small groups. This type of concert is perfect for a special song for a dedication, opening ceremony or an anniversary celebration. Yana will recite a little of her own Sámi background and history as well as on Lapland’s beautiful nature and weave Jojk with stories of her own unique Mangi  Sámi family and ancestors.

 

YANA MANGI music band is something above the ordinary to entertain your guests. This band has had success after success. YANA and her musicians give Jojk a new face with wonderful harmonies and suggestive rhythms. YANA performs her songs with professional musicians with rock and pop, but also with Jojk as a red thread in all the songs. English and Swedish texts are naturally performed, and the stories in English, if you wish.
